Floor leveler is a watery form of cement that's used to fill holes, gaps and cracks in a base floor so that you can lay tile or other flooring over it. It provides a smooth, flat surface for the new flooring. You can use leveler whether the base is a cement slab or a wood floor. Always check the instructions on the packaging of the brand of leveler you buy, which may vary from brand to brand.
Instructions
1. Go over the floor with a vacuum hose, pulling any debris out of the cracks and holes in the floor.
2. Use a mop and floor cleanser to get the floor very clean. Let it dry thoroughly.
3. Put about two inches of water in a bucket. Add floor leveler, just enough to cover the water.
4. Load your drill with its mixing bar. Mix the water and leveler completely.
5. Add more water and more leveler, alternately, getting as much as you need to fill the cracks and gaps in the floor, and getting it to a very thin, watery consistency.
6. Pour the leveler over each hole or gap in the floor, starting at the edge of the floor that's farthest from the doorway. Let the leveler spread out as you pour it, getting the low spots completely even.
7. Allow the leveler to set overnight. The floor is now ready for tile or other flooring.
