Use Eco-friendly Calcite

Meditation with green calcite can help balance emotional stressors.


Green calcite, a green-hued variation of the common mineral, is light weight, translucent and forms hexagonal crystals. It is associated, in metaphysical terms, with the heart chakra, imbuing it with a compassionate and healing vibration. It is used often in energy work to forge a connection between the emotions and the body. It is thought to dissolve old energy patterns that are present in the subtle energy system, which allows a person to see difficult life situations in a new and more positive light. Green calcite is also associated with the bones and joints, as it is thought to balance calcium levels within the body.


Instructions


1. Prepare your environment for meditative practice. In order to receive full benefits from working with the energy of minerals, a comfortable and reasonably quiet area needs to be accessible. Plan on working with the mineral when you are relatively alone in your space and will not be bothered by ringing phones, fussy children or other day-to-day responsibilities. Equip your meditative environment with a comfortable chair or surface on which to lie down and a CD or MP3 playing soft, rhythmic music.


2. Sit or lie down and watch your breath. Watching your breath, or being aware of the sensation of it flowing into and out of your body, is a common way to slow brain function and metabolic processes in order to get ready for a meditative session. As you breathe, focus on the clean, oxygenated air coming into your body restoring any deficiencies that might be present.


3. Hold the green calcite against your heart chakra region in the center of your upper chest. Now, imagine a green energy coming from the calcite and going into your heart chakra. Begin to focus your awareness exclusively in this region. As you breathe, see if you can recognize this energy center communicating with you. Certain words or emotions may come to mind or be felt; simply let them come and breathe with the energy of the crystal. A sensation of the area becoming lighter is often felt at this point in the exercise.


4. Continue with the meditation for up to 20 minutes or until you feel that the process is complete. Slowly bring yourself back to everyday awareness. Keep your green calcite in an enclosed space, like a box or pouch, until the next meditative session.
