Perform A Keyword Explore Facebook

Facebook is an ever-growing social network used by individuals and companies to share information. With the number of users growing exponentially, finding what you are looking for on the site may be challenging. Use the website's search engine to find the people, fan pages and product pages you want to connect with. Narrow down your search by using very specific key words and weeding out the types of pages that are not relevant to your search.

Instructions

1. Open the Facebook homepage.

2. Type in keywords, such as a person's name or product, in the search field at the top of the screen. Click the magnifying glass at the right end of the search field or hit "Enter" on your keyboard.

3. Sort the search results using the categories listed on the left side of the screen. Categories include such groupings as "People," "Groups," "Pages," and "Web Results." When you click on the name of a category, the search results narrow to include only those results which fall under the selected category. For instance, when you type in the name of a pizza place as your key word, a variety of results will appear: people who list the restaurant on their profile, groups started by fans of the restaurant and web results for the name of the business. Selecting just one category will weed out page types you are uninterested in.

4. Search for more than one topic or thing at the same time by using the pipe symbol. The pipe symbol is a vertical line entered in between two or more key words or phrases. For example, you might search for Henry's Pizza | San Diego. On a PC, create the pipe symbol by pressing the "Shift" key and "\" key at the same time. Searching for more than one keyword at the same time will yield more specific search results.
