Fresh paint Wallboard

Knowing paint and what materials to use are essential.

Painting new drywall allows you to finish the room to your liking. Supplies specific to your painting job help you get the job done, such as specific primers for new wallboard that help eliminate problems due to the porous nature of drywall. They can also help you create professional-looking results with a little patience and know-how.Often the hardest part about painting wallboard is taking the time to choose the proper color.

Instructions

1. Wear goggles and a mask to protect yourself from fumes and splatters. Spread drop cloths to protect the floor and any furniture or fixtures that may be splattered.

2. Apply painter's tape around the ceiling, baseboard and other trim in the room. Run your thumb down the edge of the painter's tape, adhering it to the walls and ensuring that it meets the corner of the wall and trim or ceiling.

3. Use the angle-sash brush to paint around the taped trim and ceilings. Dip the brush directly into the can, wiping off one side of the brush on the lip of the can.

4. Pour the primer into the roller pan, leaving enough room in the pan to account for a little splashing of the primer. Roll your roller through the primer, coating it completely with primer but not over-saturating it.

5. Roll the primer onto the wall in a large "N" shape, approximately three feet wide. Roll from top to bottom filling in the "N" shape completely. Paint all walls in this manner, starting a new "N" once the other is completely filled in.

6. Allow to dry completely, per manufacturer's suggestion on the primer can.

7. Paint the walls using the same technique as the primer.
