If you plan to paint the shiny wallboard within your manufactured home, choose a particular type of paint based on your needs and lifestyle.
Semi-gloss Latex Paint
If you have young children, consider a semi-gloss latex paint. This particular type of paint is more durable than satin paint. It also is much easier to clean. Unfortunately, semi-gloss paint tends to reflect light in a way some find undesirable.
Satin Latex Paint
If you don't have children and your walls are not subject to duress, apply a satin latex paint. While not as durable as semi-gloss paint, satin latex has an attractive, muted sheen that looks good in all different types of lighting.
Considerations
You can use any type of latex paint on the shiny wallboard within your manufactured home. However, none will adhere unless the wallboard is properly prepared. Roughen the wallboard with sandpaper, or it will not accept a primer base. Apply a shellac primer before you paint, or peeling will result.
