Kinds Of Drywall Corner Bead

There are a number of different corner beads to choose from.

Corner beads are installed in plastering to tidily finish off and protect wall corners after the drywall process is finished. The standard corner bead is L shaped and made from galvanised steel to prevent rusting, which would discolor the joint compound and the final paint finish. PVC corner beads have recently been introduced to the market and have the advantage of being more flexible to accommodate for twisted lumber. Furthermore they do not rust.

L-Shaped Corner Bead

This corner bead provides a standard 90 degree angle for corners and measures 1 1/4 inches by 1 1/4 inches. It can be bought in lengths of 8, 9 and 10 feet.

L-Shaped Corner Bead with Tape

This corner bead is exactly the same as above but with tape attached to both edges to help when applying the bead to walls. It can be bought in the standard lengths of 8 to 10 feet.

Bullnose Corner Bead

This corner bead has a rounded edge providing a smoother alternative to a 90 degree angle. It can be bought in lengths from 8 to 10 feet.

Bullnose Archway Corner Bead

This corner bead is used for curved corners and archways. Cuts placed every 1/2 inch on the outside edges allow the flexibility needed to bend the bead around curves. This bead is also useful when having to accommodate the shape of warped lumber. This bead is narrower than standard L-shaped bead, measuring in at 3/4 by 3/4 inch. This design feature further softens the appearance of corners. For lengths of archway bead, ask the supplier for different measurements.

L-shaped Archway Corner Bead

Exactly the same as the bullnose archway corner bead but provides an L-shaped rather than curved finish.

Inside Corner Beads

As their name suggests, these beads are used for inside corners and come in similar varieties to the outside corner beads.
