Connect Frp Sections

FRP (fiberglass reinforced panels) are a type of panel made of fiberglass. It comes in 4-by-8 foot sections and is water resistant. These panels are installed mainly in bathrooms and other high moisture areas. They are used to surround a shower. FRP can be installed directly on top of drywall or any other type of wall you may have. When you are installing the FRP on the wall, there is a connector piece made specifically to attach one section to the next.

Instructions

1. Mark off the area on the wall where the FRP will be installed with a pencil. Run a tape measure along the length and width of that area and multiply the two together to get the total square footage of the area where you will be installing the FRP.

2. Turn the first piece of FRP board over and open up a bucket of FRP adhesive. Spread out the adhesive over the back of the FRP with a trowel. Hold up the FRP vertically beginning at the first corner. Press it into place on the wall and leave a 1/4-inch gap between the corners and the floor.

3. Push the panel into place and run a laminate roller over the entire surface. Move the roller back and forth to help spread out the FRP adhesive and secure it to the wall. Hold it in place until it is secure to the wall without having to hold it up.

4. Slide a connector piece along the wall. Push the piece up against the wall so the lip is facing out on each side and slide the connector into the first FRP section. Put FRP adhesive on the back of the second panel and install it in the exact same manner. Slide it into the other side of the connector so it is attached to the first piece.

5. Run the laminate roller over the entire surface until it is secure in place. Install the second connector and continue in the same manner all the way around the desired area until all of the FRP is installed.
