Hang A Plasma Television Metal Stud

Mounting your
TV is easy with some simple steps.

Mounting your plasma TV on the wall can be an excellent way to bring the room together. Not having to worry about buying a new piece of furniture on which to place your TV can be one less task during your busy day. A television that rests on furniture is prone to getting knocked over and can even constrict the way that the room is arranged. Mounting your TV is easy to do yourself without the help of an external service.

Instructions

1. Buy a wall mount that is compatible with your television's weight. You can find this on the side of the box the mount is sold in. For instance if you are buying a mount for a television that is 50 pound, buy a mount that can withstand a 50-pound TV.

2. Decide what to do with your television cables. When you mount your TV you won't be able to brush your cables under a rug anymore. If you want to run your cables through the wall you will need the help of a building contractor. Find one in your local listings.

3. Find the studs on your wall with a stud finder. If you don't mount the TV to a stud, it will rip the drywall out, and the TV will come crashing down.

4. Mark the stud with a pencil for future reference.

5. Place the mount on the wall where you marked the stud with your pencil. Use a level to make sure that the mount is level with the wall. You can determine this by whether the little bubbles in the level are in the middle of the tubes.

6. Drill a small pilot hole where you want the screws to go in for the mount. You can use a drill bit smaller than the bit size of the screws that come with your mount. You can find the screw size in the "Packed Items" list that came with your mount.

7. Drill the mounting screw into the wall. Test the mount to make sure that it is sturdy and won't fold when pressure is applied to it. You can do this by pulling down on the mount. Just don't do this too hard.

8. Hold your TV up to the mount and apply the mounting screws to the back of your TV. Check the stability of the television after you have tightened the screws.

9. Connect your TV wires and turn on your TV.
