Regardless of job environment, a horticulturist's day is spent in the company of plants. Researchers are typically stationed at a desk or in a laboratory, conducting research. Those involved in sales spend the majority of their day meeting with clients and suggesting appropriate plants or horticulture technologies. Many positions require the horticulturists to spend days on site planting and tending to plants.
