Rock can be used in a wide variety of different construction methods, from walls to decorations to decorative waterfalls in a backyard. Sometimes you want to mount something on a rock surface -- or mount a rock onto an object -- and you need to screw a hole through the rock. Every rock is different, but you can use the same technique for most of them and at the end you'll have screwed through the rock.
Instructions
1. Install the masonry bit into the drill. Locate the area where you need to put the hole or screw and make a mark there with a permanent marker.
2. Place the tip of the masonry bit onto the mark you made previously. Pull the trigger while applying firm pressure towards the rock. Drill long enough to either drill through the rock -- if that's your goal -- or approximately 1/2-inch deeper than the screw you want to apply.
3. Attach a masonry screw to the drill. Put the top of the screw into the hole and use the drill to drive the screw into the rock.
