Once your furniture is firmly connected, you will want to seal it thoroughly before painting it to eliminate any off gassing from the resins that are used to construct the particle board.
Particle Board Flooring
Particle board is a common choice for sub flooring projects. You will want to choose a PBU grade of particle board that will support the weight that you anticipate for your room. You can lay particle board connected by tongue and groove and then seal your connections with caulking.
