Finding good keywords for a website is a slow process. You have to decide who will be searching for your product, and how they might describe it to a search engine.

1. Decide what your main keywords are. These will be fairly obvious most of the time. If you have a website that sells baby booties, then ‘baby booties’ is going to be a good keyword phrase.
2. Figure out what your secondary keywords are. This is where a thesaurus comes in handy to look up synonyms. There are also several online resources available that will suggest words for you. Examples would be ‘infant’ and ‘footwear’.
3. Choose some descriptive words to catch more searchers. Words like ’girl’ and ’boy’ will catch those doing a more specific search.
4. Market your product. People often type in words like “best’ and ‘inexpensive’. You can also add a target a geographical area if you have a physical location
5. Use an online tool to help you test drive keywords and keyword phrases to see which words and combinations are being searched for most often. Pick the most important words to initiate your site, and you can add more later.
