Invest In A Wallpaper Job

Operating any business requires you to create profitable bids and collect timely payment. Wallpaper installation is no exception. Accurately calculate all of your time and expenses before you bid the job to ensure that you are well compensated. Any bid walks the fine line between being low enough to land the job and high enough to make the work worth all of the time and effort you will put forth.

Instructions

1. Meet with your potential client to choose the wallpaper.

2. Measure the height and width of the walls that will be covered. Calculate the total square footage of the space.

3. Measure the door and window openings. Calculate the square footage of the door and window openings and deduct this number from the total square footage.

4. Divide the square footage of paper you will need by 30. This will tell you how many rolls of paper you should order. A standard wallpaper roll will cover 36 square feet. Using 30 to divide the square footage will provide excess paper for scrap.

5. Multiply the number of rolls of paper by the per roll cost.

6. Add in the cost of adhesive and any other supplies that you will need for the project. The total is your materials cost for the job.

7. Estimate how long it will take to hang the paper. Include removal of old paper and other wall prep in your time estimate.

8. Determine an hourly rate for your services. Multiply the hourly rate by the time estimate to figure your labor cost.

9. Add the total of the material costs to the total of the labor costs. This will be your bid on the project.

10. Present the bid to the customer on a printed sheet of paper. Include your company name and phone number at the top of the sheet. Add a line at the bottom of the sheet for the customer to accept the bid.
