Installing wallboard (also called drywall) on a ceiling is similar to installing it on a wall. Generally, you attach the board to ceiling joist with drywall screws, tape the seams between the boards with mesh tape and joint compound, and sand it smooth. Ceilings can be a challenge because of the upside-down positioning of the boards, so you'll need an assistant to help hold them in place while you secure them.
