Produce A Twitter Trending Keyword

Twitter trending keywords are marked with hashtags in posts.

Twitter is a social networking website that allows members to post messages up to 140 characters in length that can be seen, responded to and reposted by other Twitter users. Users have the ability to specify keywords inside of their posts, with these keywords becoming search links that allow other users to easily find all posts using the same keywords. These keywords are the key to "trending" on Twitter, with the site keeping track of the most popular keywords being used at any given time and listing them on the home page of Twitter users.

Instructions

1. Compose a Twitter post, staying beneath the limit of 140 characters to ensure that you have enough space to add your trending keyword.

2. Choose a keyword that sums up the general theme of your post. The keyword can be a word that appears in your post, a separate word or a short phrase. If the keyword does not appear in your post, type it after the end of your post. If the keyword is composed of a short phrase, type the phrase without spaces.

3. Place a hashtag or "#" symbol directly in front of the keyword, regardless of whether the keyword appears inside of your post or after it. Do not put a space between the hashtag and the keyword.

4. Post your message to Twitter. The keyword in your post will appear as a link; clicking it will bring up a search result page of all of the posts on Twitter that use the same keyword.
