What Types Of Products Absorb Or Consume Seem

Some drywall products are engineer-designed to block sound.

Home theatres systems are designed to provide the same sound effect and acoustics as heard in a movie theatre. The volume of sound that emits from these systems may require some soundproofing to avoid causing a disturbance and problem with neighbors. There are some items that work on absorbing sound.

Homosote

Homosote is fiberboard sheets made with recycled newspapers. The boards are durable, weather resistant and insulating, making it an effective method for soundproofing. A suggested way of using Homosote is covering the board with a decorative fabric, then nailing it along the wall.

Sound-Deadening Boards

Several companies have created sound-deadening boards to use on new or reconstructed walls. Gypsum boards are a type of material that is moisture resistant, fire retardant and 5/8 of an inch thick. The boards eliminate sounds with high performance and are used in schools, offices, hotels and multifamily housing.

Soundproof Seal

A quick and easy item to use for sound absorbency is soundproof seal, or stripping. The seal is used on doors and window frames to block out noise and light. Made with a foam rubber, the seal is easy to cut and apply with its self-adhesive backing.

Furrows

Furrows are a type of commercial carpet that comes in squares that can be easily applied to existing walls as a soundproofing method. The carpet is thick, tightly woven and available in a variety of colors and designs. Installing furrows is similar to laying tile squares.
