How Do I Calibrate My Scotts 1000 Fertilizer Spreader?
The Scotts AccuGreen 1000 Drop Spreader is a device used to dispense fertilizer onto the surface of a lawn or garden. The spreader's tub can contain up to 5000 square feet of fertilizer and has a spray pattern that's 18 inches wide. The micrometer dial on the spreader matches the rates found on fertilizer packages. Before using your Scotts 1000 Drop Spreader for the first time, you must calibrate it to ensure that it dispenses fertilizer at the proper rate.
Instructions
1. Place the fertilizer spreader on a hard surface such as a patio or driveway.
2. Locate for the micrometer dial on the underside of "U"-shaped handle. Turn the micrometer dial until the number six is visible in the window above the dial.
3. Pick up the bottom of the fertilizer spreader and turn it upside down with the "U"-shaped handle on the ground. The logo on the spreader should be facing away from you.
4. Step down on the shutoff lever with your foot, which is a metal bar attached just above the micrometer. Look inside the bottom of the spreader and locate the calibration line that is etched into the spreader all the way across. The shut-off bar should meet the calibration line. If you are unsure, release the metal lever with your foot and then step down on it again to watch the movement of the shut-off bar.
5. Locate the screw in the center of the spreader, just above the shut-off bar. Turn the screw clockwise with a screwdriver if the shut-off bar covered the calibration line. Turn the screw counterclockwise if the bar fell short of the calibration line.
