Use A Rubber Baseboard

Install a Rubber Baseboard

Rubber or vinyl baseboards are commonly found in commercial buildings because they are inexpensive and easy to install. They are also incredibly durable, making them ideal for high traffic areas like hallways and stairwells. In addition to the ruggedness, it is easy to maintain and clean rubber baseboards because you can use strong cleaners without risking any damage to the baseboard. With a wide variety of colors and widths available, rubber baseboards are an easy-to-install and economical choice.

Instructions

1. Clean the area thoroughly before installing new baseboards. Sweep out the corner where the wall meets the floor and wipe away any dirt from the wall itself.

2. Measure out the length of baseboard you will need, up to 6 feet. If more than 6 feet are required, work in 6-foot segments. Unroll the baseboard material and remove the protective backing.

3. Starting in the corner, press the rubber baseboard onto the wall. Press firmly and evenly as you move at a slow and even pace down the length of the wall, pressing the baseboard into place. This will ensure a straight and even baseboard.

4. Cut the vinyl at the corners with a utility knife. You can also simply press the material into the corner and continue around the other wall until the 6-foot segment runs out, although this may leave a slightly rounded corner.

5. Apply a dab of carpenter's glue to secure any sections that don't stick to the wall properly.
