Paneling is sometimes made of natural or faux wood.
Glue can be tricky to remove because once it dries it will continue to harden until it is fully cured. Once it has hardened completely, it will be harder to scrape off or dissolve. Some types of glue take up to a week to harden. Choose a cleaning solution based on the type of glue you've dripped on the paneling. Always place drop cloths and wipe up dripped glue while it is wet to prevent the laborious removal process.
Liquid Dish Soap
Use a mild solution of liquid dish soap and water to dissolve white glue, craft glue or glue from glue sticks. To use it, add a few drops of liquid dish soap to 1 cup warm water. Soak a cloth in the water and lay it over the paneling. Hold it there for several minutes or until the glue is soft enough that you can scrape it off the paneling. This process will not harm or alter the paneling as long as you dry it fully.
Mineral Spirits
Mineral spirits will help you remove rubber cement, which has a stronger bond than craft or white glue. To use it, soak a cloth in the mineral spirits and rub it over the glue on the paneling. Be careful not to rub it on the wood of the paneling itself as it might take off the paint or finish on some types of paneling.
Nail Polish Remover
Nail polish remover is effective in removing some types of epoxy glue. To use it, soak a cloth in clear water and hold it over the dried glue on the paneling. Tape the cloth to the paneling and keep it there for several hours. Rewet the cloth as often as needed until you remove the glue residue. Nail polish will damage the finish of certain types of paneling.
Dry Ice
Dry ice will harden the glue until it is brittle. Once it is brittle it may simply snap from the surface of the paneling. To use it, put on thick work gloves, as touching bare dried ice can cause serious frostbite. Open windows to ventilate the room. Move plants, pets and children to another area of the home. Dry ice emits carbon dioxide, which can result in injury or death if there is not enough oxygen in the room. Hold the dry ice over the glue until it snaps off the surface or until you can pry it from the surface of the paneling.
