Hang A Curtain Fishing rod On Sheetrock

Hanging curtain rods on sheetrock is simple and straightforward.

Most interior walls are sheetrock, and the good news is that hanging a curtain rod on sheetrock is simple to do. Whether you find a stud behind the sheetrock to attach your curtain rod mounting brackets to or you use drywall anchors, your curtain rod will hang indefinitely on sheetrock or until you want to change it. Choose a decorative curtain rod to make the most impact and emphasize your window treatment, such as a burnished bronze curtain rod with large square finials on either side. No matter what style curtain rod you choose, as long as the finish matches your decor, your windows will emphasize your style instead of detract from it.

Instructions

1. Measure and mark 4 inches out and up from the upper left corner of the window frame, and mark where the screws will go by holding the mounting bracket against the sheetrock. Repeat on the right side of the window, and find and mark the center (making sure it's 4 inches above the window frame as well).

2. Use the stud finder, and make an X over any of the spots you measured where a stud is present.

3. Screw in drywall anchors where no studs were found using the power drill, and screw in the mounting brackets directly into the drywall anchors without fully tightening the screws. If you located a stud, screw the mounting bracket directly into the stud, also without fully tightening the screws.

4. Use the level to make sure the left and right mounting brackets are square with the center mounting bracket. If uneven, use your hand to adjust the mounting bracket up or down as needed. Once even, tighten the screws.

5. Slide your curtain panels onto the curtain rod, and insert into the mounting brackets. Adjust the curtains as necessary, and tighten the small screw located on each mounting bracket to secure the curtain rod.
