Drywall installation involves two separate processes: hanging and finishing. Hanging drywall involves cutting drywall boards to the proper size and attaching them to the studs to form proper walls. Finishers come behind the hangers and make the surface solid and smooth. Drywall hangers have the technical experience to get the job done quickly and efficiently; however, before the first board is hung, you must learn bid on a hanging job and get the project.
Instructions
1. Measure the length of a wall in one room of the job site. Divide that measurement by eight to determine how many drywall boards long the wall measures.
2. Multiply that number by two to determine the number of boards it will take to cover that wall. Do not deduct space where windows, doors and other openings exist. Leave this area in your count so you will have a bit of extra drywall for emergency use during or after the project.
3. Repeat the process for each wall in each room of the job site. Add those numbers together to figure out the number of boards you will need for the entire project. Call your supplier to get the current cost of the drywall boards you will need.
4. Multiply the price of your drywall boards and multiply by 1 1/2 to get a labor price. Add the labor and material prices together to get the total price of your bid.
