Glue Drywall Towards The Interior Of Concrete Block Walls

You can glue drywall sheets to a concrete block wall.

Drywall is usually attached to wall studs with 2-inch drywall screws using an electric drill with a driver bit installed. However, in some installations, such as in a basement, it is necessary to glue drywall sheets to the interior of concrete block walls. This process is much less time-consuming than attaching wood furring strips to the concrete block to which the drywall can be screwed. You can glue drywall to the interior of concrete block walls using a straightforward procedure.

Instructions

1. Using a scraper, scrape off chunks of debris from the wall to make it as smooth as possible.

2. Cut the nozzle end of a tube of construction adhesive at a 45-degree angle using a utility knife. Poke the foil cover at the bottom of the nozzle using the metal rod attached to a caulk gun. Load the tube into the caulk gun and press the plunger into the rear of the tube and turn it 180 degrees. Press the release button.

3. Lay a piece of drywall board flat on the ground with the paper side down. Hold the caulk gun on the drywall and pull the trigger evenly as you apply the adhesive in swirls over the entire back of the drywall. Keep the adhesive 2 to 3 inches from the edges of the drywall and apply a generous amount everywhere else.

4. Let the glue set up for 3 to 5 minutes while you cut the next piece of drywall, if it is not a full piece, and apply adhesive to it.

5. Press the first piece of drywall in place on the wall and hold it for 30 seconds until it bonds with the concrete block. Continue installing the drywall by repeating the process for the rest of the sheets.
