Use Google Keyword Tool To Locate Your Niche

The Google keyword tool lets you search from a database of common search phrases to identify the best keywords for your niche blog or website. The tool is free to use, and Google provides statistics along with keyword suggestions. The keyword suggestions and search statistics help you choose which words are best used for the site.

Instructions

1. Open a Web browser on your computer. Navigate to the Google keyword tool page located at "adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal."

2. Type a keyword or small phrase that interests you for your Web page. Type the captcha phrase and click "Search."

3. View the list of keywords suggested for the phrase you entered. The best keyword phrase niche is one with fewer than 50,000 searches and low competition. The competition score will be in a separate column, and you should check it carefully. Choosing a phrase that already has millions of searches will be high in competition, so it is difficult to rank for that term in the search engines.

4. Hover your mouse over the search phrase. Click the spyglass icon to view the search phrase in Google Trends. The Trends view lets you see statistics for the time of year when the search phrase is popular. This section is beneficial for holiday articles and seasonal websites.
