Drywall corners can be patched with joint compound.
After walls have been sheetrocked, mudded and painted, the corners are the places that are most vulnerable to chipping of joint compound (mud) from the metal beading and the wall. You can repair this by reaffixing any loose or damaged metal beading, then reapplying mud. To finish it all, you will have to repaint to make the patched drywall corner match the rest of the wall.
Instructions
1. Remove any damaged nails from wall's metal beading. Pull popped out nails with a hammer, and use a slot screwdriver to clean old paint and drywall mud from the heads of screws that are popping out. Use a drill to unscrew them.
2. Drive new drywall screws into all places where the metal corner beading is separating from the wall.
3. Use a drywall blade to apply a layer of mud that completely covers all areas that need patching, especially where you have driven new screws, then use the blade to scrape the mud flush with the wall. Let it dry overnight.
4. Sand off excess dried mud from the corner, and apply a second coat of mud to fill in gaps and depressions in the first coat. Use the blade to scrape it flush to the wall. Feather this coat into the wall to form a continuous flat surface. After the mud has dried overnight, sand and apply a third coat, if necessary.
5. Sand the last coat and paint a coat of wall primer. Let it dry for two hours, then touch up by painting it the color of the wall.
