If you have layers and layers of paint on your drywall, you may decide you need to remove it first before painting it again. You may also have gotten acrylic paint on your drywall by accident. Whatever the reason, there is a way to remove the unwanted paint.
Acrylic Paint
Acrylic paint is an alternative to oil-based paints. Acrylic paint looks like oil paint but can resist damage over time caused by humidity, extreme temperatures and exposure to water. Neither will it crack over time, and because it is water based, it can be cleaned up with water if spilled. At the same time, water will not harm or distort acrylic paints after it has dried.
Uses
Acrylic paint is used by artists. Acrylic artist paints are designed to adhere to canvas, paper, boards and many other surfaces, including drywall. Murals painted on drywall are almost always painted with acrylic paints.
In addition, acrylic paint is considered a latex paint; however, most indoor latex paints are only partially made from acrylic. There are also paints made with 100 percent acrylic, but they are generally used to paint exterior surfaces. Some people however, choose this type of acrylic paint to be used indoors, including on drywall.
Drywall
Drywall is also known as Sheetrock, plasterboard or gypsum board. Prior to its appearance in the mid-20th century, plaster was used to make interior walls, which was harder to install and harder to maintain. Drywall is made from panels of a thin layer of gypsum, which are covered in a paper shell. It easy to install and maintain.
Tools
If you want to remove the unwanted acrylic paint from your drywall but don't want to paint over it, you will need the right tools. You will need a paint roller or brush and a scraping knife.
