Targeting a popular keyword with search engine optimization, or SEO, increases a website's position in search results for that keyword. Since many websites get most of their visitors from search sites, this dramatically increases traffic and revenue. SEO is a must for any website because of this. Optimizing for one keyword produces excellent benefits, but you can optimize for multiple keywords to experience even greater results.
Instructions
1. Place the keywords on your website. Use the keywords frequently but naturally in the body of your content as well as headers. The frequency of keywords is an important factor in determining search engine position.
2. Place the keywords in the "description" and "keywords" metadata elements of your Web pages. Open your website in a text or HTML editor and look for these elements at the beginning of the document. Modify the tag to include your keywords, too.
3. Obtain back links to your website containing the keywords you wish to target. Use only one keyword per link. Search engines analyze the anchor text, or link title, of links pointing to your site to determine ranking. If your site has many links with the anchor text, "Seattle plumber," for example, it is likely to rank well for that keyword. Make sure the links come from reputable sites related to the same topic as your website for best results.
You need to find creative ways to obtain links as webmasters don't link to other sites without good reason. Make sure your website contains high-quality, relevant content. Consider guest blogging for other sites and include targeted links in your posts (with permission, of course). Submit your website to directories and social news sites, using one of your keywords as the link title whenever possible.
