Health Problems From Fungus

Black mold can be hazardous to your health.


Black mold, known scientifically as Stachybotrys Chartarum, often grows on home-building materials such as gypsum board, fiberboard or even drywall. It occurs when these materials are in constant contact with moisture. Also, black mold growing in the home can result in health issues.


Allergies


Those who suffer from allergies are often most affected by molds, including black mold, and will experience increased allergy symptoms such as nasal congestion, itchy, watery eyes and wheezing.


Asthma


Asthma suffers may experience increased asthma-related symptoms when exposed to molds, including black mold.


Headaches


When molds grow rampant in the home, residents may experience headaches as a result or exposure to the mold.


Immunodeficiency


People who suffer from suppressed immune systems may experience respiratory system and other health issues when exposed to black mold and other molds.


Lung Disease


Those who have existing lung diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis or other lung disorders, may experience increased pulmonary symptoms when exposed to molds, including black mold.
