Bathroom Wall Covering Ideas

Make your bathroom a retreat by decorating the walls.

Decorating your bathroom can be a daunting task. Some materials and colors don't work as well in bathrooms as they do in other such rooms due to the size of the room and the fact that it gets damp. Condensation in general can damage many types of material.

Mirrors

One idea for covering the walls of your bathroom is to add a large mirror or a bunch of smaller mirrors. Your bathroom likely already has a main mirror. However, adding more mirrors will make it appear larger and brighter. In addition, use the mirrors as part of your decor. Create a vintage feeling by using mirrors in antique frames.

Paint

One of the most common ways to cover the walls in your bathroom is to use paint. Paint is one of the easiest ways to transform your space. The paint should depend on a few factors, including the size of the bathroom, the overall theme or decorations used and how much light the bathroom receives. Neutrals, such as white or cream, are always a safe bet. Brighter colors such as aqua are a lovely idea as well. They make the bathroom pop from the hallway.

Wallpaper

If your bathroom is well ventilated, try using wallpaper. This doesn't work well in a bathroom that is used often as the wallpaper might peel because of high moisture levels. One idea for wallpaper is one with a soft yellow background with pictures of butterflies on it.

Tile

Another idea for your bathroom wall is ceramic tile. This is a good option for bathrooms that experience more moisture, due to showering and the like. Ceramic tile must be sealed and maintained as mold and mildew can easily work into grout lines. Once that happens, it's difficult to remove. Choose from many different types of colors and designs. White tile is common as it's easy to clean.
