Dirt Inside Corners

Mud Inside Corners

Nice sharp corners make for easier wallpaper application and just add to the professional look of the job. Applying joint compound to, or "mudding," inside corners can take a little practice, but the clean results make it worth the extra effort.

Instructions

1. Apply paper joint tape or adhesive mesh tape to the inside corner. (See Related eHow, "Apply Joint Tape.")

2. Gather a small amount of joint compound ("mud") on a corner knife (an L-shaped taping knife that fits snugly into a 90-degree inside corner). Start at top of the wall and pull the knife slowly and evenly down the corner.

3. Gather more mud and continue until corner is mudded. This layer should be so thin and even that you can faintly see the tape through it.

4. Allow to dry 12 to 24 hours.

5. Sand the corner by hand using a medium-grit sandpaper on a sanding block.

6. Apply a second coat of mud into the corner in the same manner.

7. Let dry, sand and finish.
