Place A Little Holder

A drill allows you to put holes of varying sizes in almost any material imaginable. The use of a simple drill bit works fine for jobs that aren't in tight spaces where the body of the drill doesn't get in the way. For jobs that are in tight spaces, however, it is necessary to use a bit holder to extend the tip of the drill bit out farther from the body of the drill, allowing you to reach the location where the hole must go. A bit holder also allows you to use your drill as a power screwdriver by working as a screwdriver bit adapter.

Instructions

1. Turn the drill off.

2. Look at the tip of the drill. Notice the tip has two main parts. One part of the tip is closest to the body of the drill; this is called the chuck collar. The second part of the tip, one that extends from the chuck collar, is the chuck sleeve. Grip each of these two parts in a different hand.

3. Twist the chuck sleeve counterclockwise, or to the left, while holding the chuck collar stationary to open the tip of the drill allowing for the removal or insertion of a drill bit, or in this case, a bit holder.

4. Insert the bit holder into the chuck sleeve so it is centered in the sleeve.

5. Turn the chuck sleeve clockwise, or to the right, to tighten the sleeve down on the bit holder, keeping it centered in the sleeve.
