Spy on your competitors to see exactly what they're bidding on.
Instead of spending thousands of dollars on finding which keywords work or not, why not let your competitors do all the hard work for you? They've already put in the time and the money to find top performing keywords. By using competitive analysis tools and other research tools, you can effectively skip the expensive research process by legally "stealing" your competitors' keywords and ads. You can't build a top business just by copying, but great intel can go a long way toward reducing costs.
Instructions
1. Go to Compete.com. Enter your competitors' URLs in the search bar, under the "Site Profile" tab. Compete will display a listing of its estimated traffic for your competitors and what it believes your competitors' top keywords and traffic sources are. It'll give you a limited set of results for free; more results requires a paid membership.
2. Go to SpyFu.com and type in your competitor's URL or your target keywords. Again, you'll get a limited amount of results for free and will need to pay to get full results. SpyFu watches keywords and companies for months to compile lists of keywords that have been successfully run by various companies. You can see which ads and keywords other companies tested and canceled, as well as which they tested and kept.
3. Visit KeywordSpy.com and type in your competitor's URL. You'll get KeywordSpy's estimate of what keywords your competitors are bidding on. Again, you'll get a limited data set for free and will need to pay to get full results.
4. Repeat the process with the URLs of all of your competitors. Compile all the keywords they're bidding on. If you do this for 10 to 20 competitors, you'll quickly have a long list of profitable keywords to work from.
