Lay Tile Over Linoleum Or Sheetrock

When you install tile over a wall or floor, ideally you'll be able to first install a layer of cement board to provide a firm, solid backing. But that's not always possible, as it may change the level of your floor or the configuration of your wall in ways that won't work with the surrounding area. If you have to tile over a linoleum floor or sheetrock wall, use flat sealing primer as your base. If you're tiling a bathroom, always install cement board first, regardless of other issues.
