Drywall is an interior wall and ceiling finishing material made of gypsum plaster sandwiched between two thick paper sheets. Drywall, also called gypsum board and plaster board, is a preferred wall and ceiling finish because it is easy to install and does not require a long learning-curve like plaster. The downside to drywall is it is plain and smooth, manufactured without texture. To make drywall look like plaster, you'll need to texture it yourself.
Instructions
1. Put drop cloths over the floor to keep any texture from falling and staining the flooring.
2. Spray wall and ceiling spray texture over the drywall and immediately begin to create impressions and swirls with a synthetic stipple brush and a sponge. Use your imagination to give the texture a custom look. Allow the wall and ceiling spray texture to dry as long as the manufacturer suggests.
3. Add texture and use both the synthetic stipple brush and sponge to make more of a textured look.
4. Pour a paint in a color of your choosing in a paint tray and apply it to the textured drywall after the texture spray has dried completely. You can even mix paints for a specific look and should apply at least two coats, waiting three hours between coats.
