Screw A Curtain Fishing rod Through Plaster

Anchors secure curtain rods to plaster walls.

Hanging window treatments can be tedious and frustrating, especially when you discover that they are crooked or the brackets wobble inside of the hole. Wobbly brackets can occur when hanging curtain rods on a plaster wall. Some kind of anchor, such as a heavy-duty toggle, is needed to screw a curtain rod bracket through plaster. These anchors are inexpensive and available at local hardware stores.

Instructions

1. Place your mounting bracket above and off the corner of your window at a 45-degree angle. Use a ruler to measure the distance from the window trim to the spot where you want to mount the curtain rod. Mark this point with a pencil. Repeat this step for the other corner of the window using the same measurements.

2. Drill a 1/2-inch hole through your marked point on the wall.

3. Insert your heavy-duty toggle bolt into the hole. Use the plastic strap that came with it to hold the metal channel insert and push it through the hole. The heavy-duty toggle bolt is used for anchoring window treatments to hollow walls, like drywall or plaster.

4. Screw in your curtain rod bracket. Place your curtain rod bracket over the hole as indicated by the curtain rod installation instructions and screw it to the wall.

5. Place the curtain rod onto the brackets.
