Make Wall Quotes

A wall quote is one way you can showcase your own style and personality. It is also an alternative to painting. Wall quotes are inexpensive and easy to make. Your wall quote can have a matte finish or a glossy one. A matte finish looks more like paint whereas a glossy finish shines in the light. If you grow tired of it, all you need to do is rip the quote off the wall. It's easy to put up and just as easy to remove.

Instructions

1. Trace the letters needed to spell out the quote. Using a letter stencil, position each letter on the color side of the colored contact paper. Use a pencil to trace the outline of each letter.

2. Cut out the letters. Keeping the contact paper on a flat surface, use a sharp knife to cut the perimeter of each stenciled letter.

3. Wipe down area of wall that will be covered with a damp cloth. Allow wall surface to dry. Hold a level up to the wall. Locate the two horizontal lines near the center of the level. Between the two lines is a tube full of liquid. Find the bubble. If the bubble is in the center of the tube between the two lines, the surface is flat. Maneuver the level until the bubble is center. Using the level as a ruler, draw a straight line with your pencil.

4. Remove backing from contact paper. Carefully pick at the edge of the paper backing and slowly strip the backing away.

5. Position each letter on the wall. Use the lines as a guide, making sure to allow ample space between each letter to avoid overlap.

6. Erase pencil lines with an eraser or household cleaner.
