Use Spackle

If you have a small hole to repair, you don't have to call in professional help. Just reach for a can of spackle and start spreading.

Instructions

1. Clean the area around the crack or hole you want to repair. Remove any loose paint chips and gently wipe the area down with a clean damp cloth. Don't make the hole or crack larger during the cleaning. Just gently swab the area to remove dirt or any finger smudges so the spackle sticks to the area.

2. Use a wide spackling knife to remove some spackle from the can. Close the spackle lid tightly or the air will ruin it.

3. Pick up spackle with a narrow spackling knife and apply the spackle to the crack. Completely fill the crack with the spackle.

4. Remove excess spackle with the same knife you used to fill the crack. Angle your knife vertically for this procedure and remove all excess spackle by scaping it off.

5. Wipe away the excess spackle with a damp cloth. You must be quick if you use this procedure. Spackle dries quickly and can only be removed by scraping it off.

6. Finish the repair. Apply more spackle if necessary and repeat the process of removing the excess. Use spackle for any other small repair jobs.
