Hang An Image On Wallboard

There are many ways to hang a picture on wallboard. The weight, size and hardware on the existing frame determine which size hardware to use for this project. The easiest type of picture hanging hardware to use for small to mid-sized pictures on wallboard is a picture hook. They are available in a wide range of sizes with weight ranges specified on the package.

Instructions

1. Hold the picture in place against the wallboard. Use a pencil to mark the top edge, left and center edge on the wallboard. Make the marks very light so they can be erased.

2. Measure the distance from the top and edges to the existing hanging hardware such as hooks, a sawtooth hanger or a wire. Mark the location of the existing hanging hardware on the wall. Transfer these measurements to mark the location of the existing hanging hardware to the wall using the marks made on the wall for the top and sides of the picture.

3. Hang light-weight pictures that have a wire on the frame on a picture hook. These hooks have a single small nail attached to a hook. Place the point of the small nail on the wallboard where the measurement was made for the location of the existing hanging hardware. Push the hook down so it is flush with the wall. The small nail will be on an angle. Use a hammer to drive the nail into the wall on an angle.
