Make Conforms For Fishing Fishing lures

Variety of fishing lures

Considering the high potential for loss during use, fishing lures can get expensive. With minimal effort, making your own lures is fun, creative and cost effective. Buying pre-made lure molds can get very pricey. However, the process of creating a mold is cheap and easy. You are only limited by your own imagination. If you can pour cake batter, you can make a mold. The difficult part can be in creating the model to be molded. Having a lure shape to copy keeps things simple. For those who are handy with model making, shaping your own is a possibility as well.

Instructions

1. Mix Plaster of Paris according to manufacturer's instructions.

2. Fill aluminum pie tin halfway full of Plaster of Paris.

3. Lubricate fishing lure model with petroleum jelly.

4. Sink the lure model halfway down into the plaster lengthwise. Half of the model should still be exposed.

5. Allow the plaster to set completely. This should take about an hour, but check the manufacturer's instructions.

6. Fill the pie tin to the top with the plaster.

7. Allow to set completely.

8. The line between the two pourings should be clear. Work a knife edge in between the two and carefully ease the mold apart.

9. Remove the model.

10. Use the knife to carve out a pour hole at the same point on each side of the mold to accommodate the material you will be using to make your lure.
