Cut An Mdf Wallboard

MDF is similar to plywood or particle wood but more dense than either of the two.

Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) is a wood-like material similar to plywood and particle board. Unlike plywood and particle board, however, MDF boards are stronger and denser materials that dulls the blades of standard saws faster than any other type of wood. Nevertheless, if you are going to be cutting MDF wallboards, the easiest and most efficient way to cut them is pretty much just like cutting any other type of hardwood.

Instructions

1. Switch the blades on your table saw with a blade made of carbide if you can afford to do so. MDF boards will dull standard blades faster than any other type of wood, but carbide tools are stronger and more durable. Carbide made tools are found at almost any major hardware store or online.

2. Sharpen your saw to ensure that they are at the sharpest point possible. Because MDF dulls blades quickly, and dull blades can be dangerous to work with, you want to make sure you start with sharp blades.

3. Place the MDF wallboard on your table saw just like you would any other type of wood, engineered or not, and then feed the MDF into the blade slowly to ensure a straight, even cut.
