Patch Gypcrete

Gypsum concrete or gyp-crete is a Portland cement, gypsum and sand mixture used for floor leveling, sound reduction, fire ratings and radiant heating. When used over extended periods of time and if it is subjected to natural disasters such as earthquakes or even hail, it can become worn and damaged with cracks, holes or dips. You can patch gyp-crete by preparing it and using a leveling compound solution.

Instructions

1. Combine 1 gallon of hot water with 1/2 cup of trisodium phosphate powder. Scrub the gyp-crete surface with the mixture. Rinse the mixture off and let the gyp-crete dry for two days.

2. Mix water with the leveling compound based on the instructions on your packaging with the drill and mixing bit. Combine the mixture until it forms a thin liquid.

3. Pour the mixture over each crack or hole and dent in the gyp-crete. Level the mixture with the bottom of your board. Let the mixture dry completely for approximately 12 hours.
