Seem Proof A Studio

Soundproofing a room to be used as a studio serves two purposes. It will limit the amount of sound that escapes the room so that others are not disturbed by the recording activity and it will eliminate echo within the room so that recordings will be clean and crisp. If you want to use a room in your home for a studio, taking a few simple measures will provide you with a useful soundproof studio.

Instructions

1. Locate the 2-by-4 studs in your existing walls using the stud finder and mark them at the tops of the walls with a pencil or pen.

2. Measure the length and width of the walls. Use these dimensions to cut the sound barrier material with the utility knife so that there is a piece of sound barrier for each wall.

3. Secure the sound barrier material to the walls using the silicone caulk.

4. Attach the sheet rock to the walls over the sound barrier using the screw driver and screws. Make note of the stud markings before placing the sheet rock so that you can insert the screws into the sheet rock where there is a 2 by 4 stud underneath for the screws to hold onto.

5. Cut the egg crate foam pad to the same dimensions that you cut the sound barrier material. Apply the foam to the walls using the silicone caulk.

6. Measure the ceiling length and width. Use these dimensions to cut an additional piece of egg crate foam pad and secure it to the ceiling.
