Key phrases In Your Craig's list Publish

If you want your Craigslist ad to attract attention, the key to success lies in the words you use. On a website where you have full control, you can use meta tags to supply data such as key words, but meta tags are not included in the HTML code Craigslist allows you to use. It's up to you, therefore, to craft your post in the right language, using keywords wisely so other users can find your listing through Craigslist or on search engines.

Instructions

1. Select an appropriate category. This ensures your posting appears in the context of relevant keywords, which helps people find you both in-site and through off-site search engines.

2. Use the main keywords in your post title. For example, if you are advertising your services as a graphic designer in New York, include the keywords "Graphic Designer" and "New York" in your heading. Simply writing "Freelancer Available" misses an opportunity.

3. Use each keyword two or three times every 100 words of your ad, incorporating them naturally into the text. Avoid using keywords any more frequently than this, especially if it doesn't flow naturally, as this is frowned upon as "keyword stuffing," and can affect your search engine ranking.

4. Add keywords as headings and subheadings, placing them between header tags for size. For example: "

Room for Hire

" for a main heading, "

2 Bedroom

" for a subheading. Search engine results prioritize keywords that appear within these tags.

5. Add a separate keyword list on a separate line at the end of your post. For example: "Keywords: house, rent, Chicago, cheap."
